5 July 2018 – On this very day 70 years ago our nations greatest institution was founded. The National Health Service is our true national treasure and we are all healthier as a nation because of it.

It was launched by Health Minister Aneurin Bevan on 5th July 1948 and it had at its heart three core principles: That it meet the needs of everyone, that it be free at the point of delivery, and that it be based on clinical need, not ability to pay.

Radio Fox is proud to serve the patients of the University Hospitals of Leicester Trust. Our patient entertainment service is also free and will continue to be so. Our volunteers donate their time, talent and expertise for free, 24 hours a day 365 days per year. We also promote other charitable institutions within the hospitals and the local area. Radio Fox has throughout it’s 30 year existence received no official funding. We exist thanks to membership subscriptions and donations from the public, local businesses and supporters.

To celebrate 70 years of the NHS the University Hospitals of Leicester Trust are holding a free party, free to everyone. Please come along to the “Big 7 Tea Party”. The party starts at 2.30pm and will run until 5.30pm.

The Venue will be: Devonshire Place, 78 London Road, Leicester LE2 0RA. Just up from the railway station. The building is air conditioned.
